Nothing says Fall but Brown-Sugared Cinnamon Apples, and they are so easy to fix.
They also fill the home with a wonderful fragrance of Autumn.
Here is the recipe that I have been making from my original recipe for more than 30 years:
Ingredients:
1 stick butter (pieces)
7 small red apples
2 Tbs cinnamon
3/4 c packed brown sugar or Splenda brown sugar blend
Wash apples and slice into small pieces, discarding all seeds and cores. Apples may or may not be peeled, as desired. Place all apple pieces in a small pot. Slice stick of butter into small portions and add to pan. Add cinnamon and brown sugar. Stir and cook over low heat with lid covering mixture. Continue to cook on low with lid about 20-30 minutes. Apples will be soft and a brownish-color when done and ready to eat.
I usually serve with pork chops and sweet potatoes, which nicely accompany the apples. The smell of my favorite season is in the air.
