It’s time to break out the basketballs for real as the 2017-18 high school girls basketball season will get underway this week.

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears will get things going first Monday when they welcome in the Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians to the new Bear Cave.

On Tuesday, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals will play host to Tarkington, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats visit Lumberton and the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs will visit Vidor.

On Thursday, Bridge City will visit Evadale. Friday’s games will pit Nederland at Orangefield and WO-S at Brookeland.

Teams will be involved in tournament play soon as well. Both Bridge City and WO-S will be at the Nederland Tournament Nov. 16-18.

The local tournament this season will once again be at Orangefield as the Lady Bobcats will host the Tennison Tournament Dec. 7-9.

Last season, the Lady Bobcats placed second in District 22-4A play, LC-M third and Bridge City fourth to each make the playoffs.
