Lady Bears make quick work of Shepherd in 3

SARATOGA – Total domination.
That was the case for the District 22-4A champion Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears as they crushed the Shepherd Lady Pirates 25-8, 25-14, 25-10 in Class 4A bidistrict playoff action at West Hardin High School Tuesday night.
The Lady Bears (23-7) showed their might against the struggling Lady Pirates. Shepherd went 0-9 in District 21-4A play but made the playoffs due to just four teams in their district.
The Lady Bears now move on to the area round Thursday when they take on the Tarkington Lady Longhorns at 5:30 p.m. at Barbers Hill High School.

It will be a rematch of last year’s area round contest in which Tarkington escaped with a 25-17, 25-20, 16-25, 25-10 victory.
LC-M dominated in every category possible against Shepherd.
The Lady Bears put together 45 kills and ended up scoring 50 points off their service game to go along with four aces.
Meanwhile, the Lady Pirates had just 19 kills, scored on just seven of their serves and had no aces.
Ally White paced the Lady Bears at the net, finishing with 13 kills.
Renna Toomey posted nine kills while Kaitlin Avery notched eight.
Chelsea Perry claimed five kills while Kayla Dominguez had three and Rachel Belcher and Janelle Rafeedie had two apiece.
Raley Broussard had a superb evening with her service game as she finished with 15 points and two aces. Avery had nine points and an ace. Perry had eight points while White had seven points and an ace and Dominguez had six points.
Kirsten Schlagel led Shepherd with five kills. Taylor Meek had four kills while Ashley Patterson had three and Candie Yates and Briseida Garcia contributed two apiece.
Yates, Steffani Moser and Makayla Currie each had two service points for the Lady Pirates.
The Lady Bears jumped on Shepherd early in Game One as Perry served up five straight points and White had four kills to get things rolling.
Shepherd go to within 19-8 but LC-M finished it off with six straight points as Broussard served up five straight points and White and Toomey combined for four kills.
LC-M led Game Two 4-3 early but exploded on a 15-5 spurt to go up 19-8. The Lady Pirates closed the gap to 20-13 but the Lady Bears closed with a 5-1 spurt with Avery getting three kills.
LC-M led 8-6 in Game Three but took off on a 10-2 run that helped close the door on Shepherd’s campaign.
