Lady Bears, Cardinals have volleyball playoffs set

Both the District 22-4A champion Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears and the Bridge City Lady Cardinals have their Class 4A bidistrict volleyball matches all set for Tuesday night.

The Lady Bears (22-7), who went 9-1 in District 22-4A play to snare the crown, will take on the fourth-place team out of District 21-4A in the Shepherd Lady Pirates Tuesday at 6 p.m. at West Hardin High School in Saratoga. The Lady Pirates went winless in 21-4A play but with just four teams in the district, made the playoffs.

The winner of the LC-M-Shepherd match will face either Tarkington or Houston Worthing in the area round.

The Lady Cardinals, the fourth-place team out of 22-4A, will take on the 21-4A champion Huntington Devilettes.

The Lady Cardinals finished 4-6 in 22-4A play and defeated Orangefield in a play-in match for the fourth playoff seed. Huntington (26-9) went 7-1 to capture 21-4A.

The winner of the Bridge City-Huntington match will face either Hardin-Jefferson or North Forest in the area round.
