LC-M hoopsters ranked No. 19 in Class 4A TABC hoop poll

With the high school basketball season just around the corner, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches have released their Preseason state polls.

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears are ranked No. 19 in the Class 4A state polls after a solid run last year under then first-year coach Brad Jeffcoat.

Jeffcoat will see several key ingredients return this year on a roster that sports 12 seniors.

The Bears went 24-14 overall last year and placed second in District 22-4A with a 8-2 mark behind eventual state champion Silsbee.

Key returners include First Team All-District and First Team All-Orange Leader Team selection 6-3 senior forward Katon Brown along with The Orange Leader Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-District guard Braden Bridges, Christian Weatherly and Mark Netherly.

The Silsbee Tigers, with a plethora of returners off their state championship squad, is ranked No. 1 in 4A while Hardin-Jefferson chimes in at No. 21.

Other boys teams that are ranked from Southeast Texas includes Port Arthur Memorial (No. 6 in 5A), East Chambers (No. 6 in 3A0, Kountze (No. 20 in 3A), Newton 9No. 24 in 3A) and Beaumont Legacy (No. 3 in TAPPS 3A).

On the girls side, defeding TAPPS 3A state champion Beaumont Legacy is ranked No. 1. Woodville is No. 19 in the 3A ranks while Evadale is No. 23 in 2A.
