Press Release
On Tuesday October 10, 2017 at about 6:30 p.m. emergency personnel responded to the football fields in the rear of West Orange – Cove Middle School regarding a vehicle accident.
The investigation determined that a Ford Explorer, driven by a fifty-five year old Orange man, lost control in the parking lot. The vehicle accelerated through the parking lot, struck another parked car, then a large trash dumpster, before traveling onto the football field. At the time of the accident, children and parents were using the football field for little league practice.
No one was injured as a result of this accident. It is believed that the driver of the Ford Explorer suffered a medical episode that caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was transported by Acadian EMS to a local hospital. He has also been referred to a medical advisory board for an examination regarding his suitability to operate a motor vehicle.
