Vidor Police Department responded to a major traffic accident at 5:22 p.m. on Saturday at the 2400 block of Highway 12.
Officers arrived at the scene to find two motor vehicles had collided in the roadway.
Vehicles involved were a Hyundai passenger car and a Chevrolet pickup.
Preliminary investigation show the Chevrolet Pickup was traveling west on Highway 12 and the Hyundai passenger car was traveling east. The Hyundai turned in front of the Chevrolet when struck on the right passenger side.
The driver of the Hyundai Erin Nicole Yates, 35, of Vidor, was later pronounced deceased at the hospital by Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Ray Chesson.
