Fire claims home in Orangefield

Around 8:15 p.m., Tuesday night, Bridge City Fire Department and Orange County ESD 2, received a call in reference to a possible structure fire located at 2649 Jackie Street in the Orangefield area.

Upon arrival on scene by firefighters they found a single story unoccupied resident fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters immediately began a defensive tactic mode and a primary search of the residence which showed the residence to be empty.

According to information obtained on scene from Bridge City Firefighters, the residence was empty and no one was home at the time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

One firefighter had to be treated on the scene by Acadian Ambulance for smoke inhalation.

No other information was available and firefighters remained on scene for several hours investigating the fire.

The fire remains under investigation by the Bridge City Volunteer Fire Department while the home owners are located.
