Mandatory evacuation for low-lying areas of Orange County

Residents in the low-lying portions of Orange County have been ordered to evacuate.

Orange County Emergency Management issued a mandatory evacuation order at 12:30 p.m. today for:

  • all unincorporated low lying areas of Orange County west of Highway 105 and north of IH-10
  • The City of Pine Forest
  • Rose City
  • All unincorporated low lying areas of Orange County north of IH-10 and east of Highway 87.

Orange County has set up staging areas for citizens to be picked up and brought to a pre shelter center.

If you cannot get out of your residence or neighborhood, you can call for assistance at 409-882-7895. Responders will be sent out to bring people to the staging area.

Staging areas include:

  • Northway Shopping Center, 3777 N. 16th St., Orange, Texas 77630
  • Crossroads Shopping Center, 730 N. Main St., Vidor, Texas 77662

These are not shelters, only drop off zones.

Evacuees will be bused to the Burton Coliseum at 7061 Gulf Way Drive, Lake Charles, La., and then transported to the LSU Agriculture Center, 300 Grady Britt Drive, Alexandria, La.

Citizens who are able to leave in their own vehicles can drive themselves to the shelter in Alexandria.
