John Besh serves meals to 1,200 in Orange Thursday

Celebrity Chef John Besh, who rose to fame during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans by remaining in the French Quarter and feeding others there, and the John Besh Foundation were in Orange today serving meals at Northway Retail Center.

Besh and his crew are now traveling to Houston, where they hope to serve meals to residents in need this weekend. Besh served red beans and rice, jambalaya and brisket along with lasagna and pasta Bolognese.

His publicist, Eleanor Mayer, said Besh and company hoped to serve 5,000 meals, but were only able to serve about 1,200 before having to evacuate due to rising water levels.
