As the weather adds to less than ideal driving conditions, the city of Orange has seen an increase in calls for wrecks this year compared to 2016.

In 2016, from Jan. 1 – Aug. 1, there were approximately 136 wrecks reported on 16th Street to the Orange Police Department. For the same time frame, approximately 160 wrecks have been reported in 2017.

Wrecks on private property, such as a parking lot, may not be included in the numbers.

In Texas, headlights must be used at nighttime and when visibility is less than 1,000 feet. This varies from other stricter states, like Arkansas, which requires drivers to also use headlights when the windshield wipers are in use, according to www.texasdrivingschool.com.
