Orange Police officers were dispatched at 8:22 p.m. on Friday, to 2049 4^th Street, the Alexander Homes Apartments, in reference to a subject that had been stabbed.

Upon arrival four minutes after dispatch received the call, officers located a 74 year old black male lying in the grass of the common area of the apartments with a stab wound to his abdomen, according to a police report.

He was treated by Orange Fire Department first responders and Acadian Ambulance at the scene, then transported by Acadian to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

He later died of his injuries.

Jerald Forbes was arrested and charged with murder.

The investigation is ongoing by the Detective Division of the Orange Police Department.
