David Covey, of Orange, was selected, on Tuesday, to fill the term of Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party left vacant after Sheila Faske resigned.

Faske sited her reasons for the resignation as a need to focus on the family business and her family.

“It has been such an honor and privilege to serve Orange County as your Republican Chair,” Faske said in a Facebook post. “We have a great Republican Family and have worked hard to bring positive change and helped stimulate growth in Orange County. I treasure every moment of serving. “

Covey said it is an honor to be elected to serve as Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party.

It has been a busy week for Covey, as he was sworn in as the newest commissioner for Orange County Emergency Service District #4.

He is also awaiting the release of his book, “Hometown Politics The Christians’ Guide to Local Government”. The book is expected to be available in September 2017.

Covey has been actively involved in politics in the area and in Austin. He, along with his brother Jonathan, worked in the local congressman’s office as representatives and recently testified before the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.
