Bridge City Police officer received minor injuries after crash

A Bridge City Police officer received minor injuries from involvement in a crash at the 1600 block of Texas Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

Information obtained on scene from Bridge City police states, that a officer was in route to a call of a recovered stolen vehicle, while in route to the call another vehicle came out in the pathway of the officer.

The officer attempted to avoid hitting the vehicle by swerving out of the way, but turned into a SUV traveling down Texas Avenue. The officer’s patrol unit came in contact with the driver side back door area of the vehicle. The officers vehicle received heavy front end damage on the driver side causing the airbags to deploy.

All occupants of the SUV were checked out on scene by Bridge City Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance personnel, and they obtained no injuries from the crash.

The officer received minor injuries from the crash and is expected to be ok.

The case remains under investigation by the Bridge City Police Department.

Traffic in both directions of Texas Ave. was at a stand still while the accident was cleaned up.
