Six involved in major wreck, two critical

VIDOR — In a press release from Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll, at 8:12 p.m. on Sunday, the Vidor Police Department dispatch center received a call of a major accident at the intersection of State Hwy. 12 and Evangeline involving a head-on collision.

The caller advised one vehicle had left the roadway and rolled several times. The first Vidor PD unit on-scene requested additional units and emergency responders’ due to six patients being involved with obvious severe injuries.

Orange County ESD1 arrived on scene and began extrication of individuals entrapped within one of the vehicles involved.

A total of six patients were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service as follows: One patient in critical condition- Out of surgery and still critical, One Serious condition- released from hospital, and Four Non-life threatening – released from hospital.

The investigation of the collision is on-going. It appears unit one was east bound on State Hwy. 12 when it attempted to make a left turn onto Evangeline crossing paths with Unit two that was west bound on State Hwy. 12.
