BC’s Henry makes USTFCCCA Academic All-America

ARLINGTON, Texas – Four men and four women from the UTA track and field program, including former Bridge City High School standout Alexus Henry, have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their efforts during the 2016-17 seasons, the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
The Maverick men to earn the accolade included: seniors Tobi Fawehinmi and Karl Goodman, junior Petter Gustafsson and sophomore Garrett Moore. Women honored were: junior Chineme Obikudu, sophomore Alexus Henry and freshmen Helen Falda and Thilda Saernvaang.
“We continue to be proud of the work put in by our student-athletes both in the classroom and on the track,” UTA coach John Sauerhage said.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have complied a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met an athletic standards for the indoor or outdoor season.
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or have been ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event. For outdoor honors, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Championships, including preliminary rounds.
