At around 7:45 p.m. a homeowner in the 1900 block of Simpson Avenue in Orange stated that he was in the front part of his house doing some construction work. He begin to smell smoke and walk to the back bedroom.

When he  opened the door, he was knocked to the ground by heavy flames.

The homeowner ran and grabbed his three kids out of the house and attempted to fight the fire with a water hose with his neighbor.

The fire got out of control quickly and a nearby neighbor called 911 to report the fire.

According to fire personnel on scene, the fire may have started in the back bedroom from a air conditioner unit in the window.

The home appears to be a total loss and the family of five is displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the City of Orange Fire Marshal.
