Woman dies from injuries in fatal wreck

PRESS RELEASE – On Friday, June 30, 2017, at 10:51 pm the Vidor Police Department Dispatch Center received a call of an automobile collision in the 600 Block of S. Main Street. The caller advised the vehicle had left the roadway, flipped and was submerged in the School House Ditch. The caller advised that there were individuals entrapped in the vehicle. The first Officer on scene found the vehicle submerged up-side down in approximately four feet of water. Arriving officers and firefighters entered the waterway to conduct a water rescue. The emergency responders were able to flip the vehicle on its side. At which time officers were able to remove the front windshield after breaking it with his baton.

First responders worked quickly to remove the passengers that had been under water for approximately 12 minutes. The passenger was removed first. Upon arrival on the bank, CPR was initiated by Vidor PD. The driver was removed from the vehicle with spontaneous respirations. A pulse was detected on the passenger prior to her transport by Acadian Ambulance Service. Both Driver and passenger were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Critical condition.

On Saturday, July 1, 2017, the passenger succumbed to her injuries and passed at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. The driver is listed in serious condition in ICU. The investigation is continuing.

Driver: David Ninteman     age: 25           

Hometown: Vidor, Texas

 Passenger: Alexandria Marie Halliday (Deceased)   age: 51

Hometown: Cedar Park, Texas
