UPDATE: DPS investigate train crash

UPDATE:

At approximately 1:50p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a train crash near Hartburg Road in Newton County.
Initial reports indicated that an all-terrain vehicle (4-wheeler) was stopped on the railroad tracks and was struck by a train.  After more than four (4) hours of ground search, Troopers determined that the 4-wheeler was unoccupied when it was struck by a Union Pacific train.
The occupant, a middle-aged female from Deweyville, was found hiding in the woods after the crash.  According to the driver, she abandoned the 4-wheeler after it became stuck on the railroad tracks.

Press Release — At approximately 1:50p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a train crash near Hartburg Road in Newton County.

Initial reports indicate that an all-terrain vehicle (4-wheeler) was stopped on the railroad tracks and was struck by a train.  Troopers and other emergency officials are working to determine if anyone was occupying the 4-wheeler at the time of the collision.

Troopers are in the early stages of this investigation; therefore, details are extremely limited and will only be released as information is confirmed.
