Special to The Leader

INVISTA’s site in Orange has been recognized with a Safety Achievement Award from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) association for exceptional safety performance in 2016.

Among other requirements, a site must achieve an employee total recordable incidence rate of 0.45 or less for the calendar year to qualify for this award.

“I am proud of our INVISTA Orange team,” said Jay Johnson, site manager. “Safety awards are about more than numbers and plaques. This award recognizes the dedication and continuing commitment our employees demonstrate to operate our site in a safe and protective manner for themselves, their families and their community.”

INVISTA’s Wilmington, North Carolina, manufacturing facility also received the Safety Achievement Award for 2016 performance.

AFPM officially recognized INVISTA for its safety accomplishments during this year’s National Occupational and Process Safety Conference in New Orleans.

INVISTA’s Orange site produces nylon intermediate chemicals that are used to manufacture nylon fiber found in such consumer brands as STAINMASTER® residential carpet, ANTRON® commercial carpet, CORDURA® fabrics for military apparel and soft-sided luggage, and bulk nylon fiber for safety airbags.
