CROSBY — The Bridge City Cardinals will head to the regional quarterfinals for the 13th straight year as they romped the Liberty Panthers 10-1 to sweep their Class 4A Region III area round series Friday evening at Crosby High School.

The Cardinals piled up 12 hits in the victory while limiting the Panthers to just five.

Justyn Romero nabbed the win on the hill for the Redbirds as he tossed five innings and struck out five. Peyton Havard tossed two innings and fanned two Panthers.

The Cardinal offense piled up four runs in the second frame and five more in the fifth to dispatch the Panthers.

Logan Hamm was certainly a thorn in the Panthers’ side as he piled up three hits with two doubles and a triple and drove in three runs.

Schuyler Thibodaux had a pair of hits and plated two runs. Kevin Gordon had a pair of hits and Gavin Green also drove in a run.

The Cardinals move on to face either Silsbee or Huffman in the regional quarterfinals next week.
