Lady Bears bounce back to knock out Huffman

CROSBY — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears rebounded from a tough Game Two loss to come back and topple the Huffman Lady Falcons 6-2 in Game Three to take the best-of-three Class 4A Region III area round series at Crosby High School.
The Lady Bears absorbed a 5-1 loss in Game Two but bounced back well to control Game Three.
LC-M will move on the the 4A Region III quarterfinals next week where they will take on the Huntington Lady Red Devils, who defeated Tarkington 12-2.
The Lady Bears jumped on the Lady Falcons early in Game Three as they scored four runs in the second inning and two more in the third after the Lady Falcons scored a run in the first.
Brianna Frenzel got the win on the hill as she tossed the final six innings, allowing one hit while striking out three. Jenna James tossed the first inning, allowing two hits.
The Lady Bears picked up six hits against Huffman pitching as eight different Lady Bears got hits.
The biggest hits came from Joanna Henry and Jonee Villanueva, who drove in two runs apiece.
Madison Murdock, Renna Toomey, Ashley Short, Olivia Leavings, James and Jayce Perry all had hits.
Short scored a pair of runs as did courtesy runner Emily Landry while Henry and James scored a run apiece.
In Game Two the Lady Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the sixth.
As the Lady Bears dropped the game despite outhitting the Lady Falcons 5-2.
James was 2-for-3 at the plate while Perry was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Murdock, Frenzel also added hits.
Frenzel pitched the first two innings, giving up three hits while fanning one while James tossed four innings, allowing no hits while striking out one and walking two.
