Liberty nips Lady Cardinals in Game One

CROSBY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals dropped a tough 4-3 decision in Game One of their best-of-three Class 4A Region III area playoff series to the Liberty Lady Panthers at Crosby High School Friday night.
The District 22-4A champion Lady Cardinals fell short in Game One despite getting a solid mound performance from ace Kassidy Wilbur. Wilbur went the distance, striking out 11 while allowing just three hits.
The series shifts back to Port Arthur Memorial High School today with Game Two starting at 10 a.m. followed by Game Three if necessary.
Aleah McClanahan went 3-for-3 at the plate to pace the Lady Cardinal offense as she had a double and drove in a run.
Summer Black was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Meagan Sourdellia was 1-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
The series shifts back to Port Arthur Memorial High School today with Game Two starting at 10 a.m. followed by Game Three if necessary.
