JASPER — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals ran their record to 7-1 to remain in first-place in the District 22-4A softball race on Good Friday by blanking the Silsbee Lady Tigers 6-0 at Jasper High School.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday and then on Thursday but Silsbee’s field was still to wet to play on.
That didn’t matter to the Lady Cardinals, who snagged a 1-0 nine-inning victory over Little Cypress-Mauriceville Thursday night.
Against Silsbee, Kassidy Wilbur went the distance on the mound, scatter three hits while fanning eight.
Caitlin Denison was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Natalie Reed was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Peyton Trapp was 1-for-3 and scored while Wilbur, Abby Anderson and Kyndall Harrison each scored runs.
The Lady Cardinals will visit West Orange-Stark Tuesday and will finish up the regular season at home next Friday against Hamshire-Fannett.
Silsbee drops to 6-2 and is tied with LC-M for second-place.
