Lady Bears cruise past Lady Mustangs

WEST ORANGE — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears improved to 2-0 on the District 22-4A season by defeating the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 15-1 in six innings Tuesday night at Lady Mustang Field.

Renna Toomey got the win for the Lady Bears, working four innings. She allowed three hits and fanned six. Brianna Frenzel tossed the last two innings, allowing a hit while striking out four.

The Lady Bears had 10 hits in the win.

Ashley Short led the way, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Madison Murdock was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Frenzel was 1-for-1 with two RBI. Toomey was 1-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Jayce Perry was 1-for-1 with a RBI and a run scored. Joanna Henry went 1-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored.

Jonee Villanueva, Makayla Dyer and Kaitlyn Huff each scored two runs. Jenna James scored a run and drove in another while Morgan Weaver had a hit.

The Lady Bears will play host to Bridge City Friday.
