A 24 year old man was shot at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Rein and 10th Street in Orange.

Orange Police Officers located Centarius Chavis on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his left shoulder. He was alert and responding to officers.

Chavis was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont by Acadian ambulance where he was treated and released.

Several persons of interest were identified and detectives are investigating all information gathered.

“The shooter was identified and not located at the scene,” Captain Robert Enmon said.

Enmon also said the shooting may be related to an argument between the individuals in the near past.

“We are searching for a person of interest at this time,” Enmon said. “We believed the person may have been at a location on Decatur but we were unable to locate the person there.”
