Diamond Wrap: LC-M teams roll up big wins

PALESTINE — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears nabbed a pair of wins to open the season at the Palestine Tournament.
The Bears defeated Jacksonville 8-4 and turned around and defeated Palestine 5-4.
In the win against Jacksonville Reagan Burdette got the win on the hill and Taylor Gilbert got the save.
Jordan Alexander went 3-for-4 at the plate. Slade Green was 1-for-3 with two runs batted in and Michael Lee had a double.
Against Palestine Green tossed a complete game, allowing just three hits while striking out 11.
Lee was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Chris Winters went3-for-3 and Max Dileo was 2-for-3.
In the bottom of the last inning Palestine had the bases loaded with two outs and three balls and no strikes and the Bears had a pickoff at second to end the threat.
LC-M girls
SWEENY- The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears defeated Galveston Ball 10-6 and hammered Corpus Christi Ray 10-1. at the Sweeny Tournament Thursday.
Renna Toomey was the winning pitcher against Ball.
Ashley Short was 2-for-3 with a home run while Maddie Murdock and Brianna Frenzel both went 2-for-3.
Jenna James got the win on the hill against Ray, allowing one hit while striking out five and walking one.
Morgan Weaver was 4-for-4 at the plate. Frenzel was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer.
BC Girls
BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals edged the Livingston Lady Lions 3-2 at Lady Cardinal Field Tuesday.
The Lady Cardinals once again got off to a late start with their bats but we’re able to stay in game with Kassidy Wilbur in the circle. Wilbur had five strike outs while only giving up one earned hit.
Wilbur was 1-for-2 at the plate with two intentional walks. Natalie Reed came up big in the 7th inning with a RBI single to finally put the Lady Cardinals on the board. Jalynne Burch and Meagan Sourdellia also went 1-for-3 at the plate.

KIRBYVILLE — The Bridge City Cardinals nabbed a season-opening 11-4 victory over the Kirbyville Wildcats in the Jasper Tournament.
Taran Burch nabbed the win on the mound for the Cardinals.
Caleb Dubois had a pair of hits and three runs batted in for the Cardinals while Schuyler Thibodaux also had three RBI.
Also at the Jasper Tournament, West Orange-Stark defeated Lumberton 5-1 and downed host Jasper 6-2.
OF girls
ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats took down the Lumberton Lady Raiders 12-2 in six innings Tuesday to improve to 4-3 on the young season.
Kaylee Ancelot earned the win on the mound, going six innings and allowing just three hits to go alongwith eight strikeouts.
Ancelot also went 2-for-4at the plate with a home run and two runs batted in.
Alyssa Dodd was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI. Autumn Frost was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and a RBI and Kinley McFarlin was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
