Bears nab second with win over H-F

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears nailed down the second-place playoff spot out of District 22-4A with a tight 56-53 victory over the last-place Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at The Bear Cave Friday night.
Guard Ayson Simmons paced the Bears (21-12, 7-2) with a game-high 19 points.
Keegan Sonnier chimed in with 12 points while Brayden Babineaux scored a season-high 10 points.
Devren Clark led the Longhorns (4-19,0-9) with 14 points while Clark Crawford had 10.
The Bears will close out the regular season at home Tuesday against West Orange-Stark.
