Numerous non-profit organizations, friends and citizens attended the retirement reception honoring Linn Cardner, the face of United Way of Orange County.

Cardner officially retired from United Way on Tuesday after 34 years of service to the community.

President and CEO of United Way of SW Louisiana Denise Durel said it best as she described Cardner.

“Linn leaves behind a great legacy,” Durel said. “She is the most treasured of agents for United Way.”

Durel first met Cardner eight years ago when Durel decided to serve her community.

“She has been a wealth of knowledge and support,” Durel said. “I greatly appreciate her friendship these last eight years.”

Cardner has not yet decided what her next adventure will bring.

“I am going to take some tiome to tend to some things around the house first,” Cardner said. “Then we will see what is next.”

United Way Orange County supports 23 organizations that provide a wide range of vital social services.
