Silsbee hoop teams get past Bobcats

Silsbee girls 72, OF 68

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats fought the first-place Silsbee Lady Tigers down to the wire and came up just short, 72-68, in District 22-4A action at Bobcat Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Bobcats, 5-3 and still in second-place in 22-4A, led the Lady Tigers, 8-0 in district, 24-23 at the end of the first quarter and 40-34 at intermission.

However, the Lady Tigers erupted on a 27-11 run in the third quarter to snag a 61-51 edge.

The Lady Bobcats battled hard in the fourth quarter, outscoring Silsbee 17-11 but came up just a little short.

Faith Fregia definitely had the hot hand for Orangefield as she filtered in 27 points to go along with five rebounds while Emmi Lummus had eight points, four steals and three rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats will visit LC-M Friday.

Post Cameron Choate had a huge night for the Lady Bobcats. She notched a double-double, scoring 21 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and had three assists.

Silsbee boys 131, OF 47

SILSBEE — The Silsbee Tigers, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A and in first-place in the District 22-4A race, downed the Orangefield Bobcats 131-47 at Tiger Gym Tuesday night.

The Tigers (23-5, 6-0) outscored the Bobcats (9-14, 1-5) 66-19 in the first half to cruise to the victory.

Caleb Kress led the Bobcats with 14 points. Aven Lathrop and Wesley Frillou added six points apiece.

Zaxh Dischler had five points,six rebounds and five assists.

The Bobcats will host LC-M Friday.

 

In other 22-4A action Tuesday, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs (9-11, 4-2) hammered Hamshire-Fannett (3-16, 0-6) 83-48.

WO-S will visit Bridge City Friday.
