Hoop wrap: Bobcats boys drill H-F; Lady Bears, Cats net wins too

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats snared their first District 22-4A win of the season Friday night as they blew past the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns 69-46 at Bobcat Gym.

Four Bobcats scored in double figures as Orangefield improved to 9-13 overall and 1-4 in 22-4A play.

Payton Lathrop and Wesley Frillou led the Bobcats with 14 points apiece while Caleb Kress and Alex Catt chimed in with 13 apiece.

Lathrop had eight rebounds for the Bobcats. Kress had seven boards while Blake Bradley had seven and Catt six.

The Longhorns (4-14, 0-5) remained winless in 22-4A play.

The Bobcats led 27-16 at intermission. The Longhorns got to within 36-29 at the end of the third but Orangefield closed it out with a 33-17 jaunt in the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats will visit top-ranked Silsbee Tuesday.

 

OF girls 54, H-F 41

FANNETT — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats maintained second-place in the District 22-4A race with a 54-41 road win over the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns Friday night.

Faith Fregia led the Lady Bobcats (5-2 in district) with 17 points and had six boards.

Post Cameron Choate had nine points and snared 15 rebounds while Emmi Lummus added seven points, five rebounds and four steals.

The Lady Bobcats will host first-place Silsbee Tuesday.

 

LC-M girls 52, WO-S 36

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears improved their record to 4-3 in District 22-4A play with a 52-36 win over the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs at The Bear Cave.

Jacie Miller powered the LC-M attack with 21 points and six rebounds. Chelsea Perry contributed 15 points for the winning effort.

The Lady Bears will visit Bridge City Tuesday while the Lady Mustangs (0-7 in district) host Hamshire-Fannett.
