Hoop wrap: LC-M units nab wins; WO-S falls to No. 1 Silsbee

LC-M boys 98, H-F 46

FANNETT — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears bounced back with a 98-46 District 22-4A win over the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns on the road Tuesday night.

The Bears (17-11, 3-1) jumped on the Longhorns (4-14, 0-4) with a 27-10 run in the first quarter and never looked back.

Jordan Garcia paced six Bears in double figures with 16 points.

Ayson Simmons chimed in with 13 points. Katon Brown notched another double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Braden Bridges and Keegan Sonnier tallied 11 points apiece while Christian Weatherly added 10.

The Bears will visit West Orange-Stark Friday in a battle for second-place.

 

Silsbee boys 102, WO-S 57

SILSBEE — The West Orange-Stark Mustangs ran into a juggernaut Tuesday night as they fell to the top-ranked Silsbee Tigers 102-57 in 22-4A action at Tiger Gym.

Guard KJ Miller led the Mustangs (8-10, 3-1) with 17 points.

Brettlin White filtered in 14 points while Cory Skinner added 10.

Devon McCain led the balanced Tigers (20-5, 4-0) with 22 points.

Braelon Bush had 17 points for the Tigers. Trajan Harris scored 12 points while Jordyn Adams had 11 and Michael McCan 10.

The Mustangs will host LC-M Friday in a battle for second-place.

 

LC-M girls 40, H-F 38

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears evened up their District 22-4A mark at 3-3 by edging out the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns 40-38 at The Bear Cave Tuesday night.

The Lady Bears are now in third-place in the standings with four games remaining. The Lady Longhorns dropped to 4-2 and are now tied with Orangefield for second-place.

Alyssa McKellar had a huge outing for the Lady Bears as she posted a double-double, scoring 15 points while yanking down 17 rebounds.

The Lady Bears will play host to West Orange-Stark Friday.
