Mustangs, Bears had solid EC Tournament

Both the West Orange-Stark Mustangs and Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears competed well at the East Chambers Tournament last Wednesday through Friday.

The Mustangs ended up capturing third-place in the gold bracket and won four of six games while the Bears went 3-3.

WO-S toppled LaMarque 58-57 as Te’Ron Brown led the way with a double-double, scoring 13 points while snagging 10 boards. Bretlin White chimed in with 14 pointts and Cory Skinner filtered in 13.

The Mustangs dropped a 56-27 decision to College Station.

They downed Hitchcock 64-63 with Malick Phillips motoring around for 17 points.

White tailled 21 points to lead the Mustangs in a tight 55-50 loss to Pasadena Sam Rayburn.

The Mustangs took down the host Bucs 57-42. Brown led the way with 14 points. Jaylen Mathews pumped in 13 and Tarek Riley added 11.

 

The Bears split a pair of games Friday.

Jasper downed the Bears 44-42 in a nailbiter. Katon Brown had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Braden Bridges filtered in 15 points.

On Friday morning the Bears defeated Corsicana 58-49.  Ayson Simmons was hot, pouring in 25 points while Brown tallied 19.
