Nederland tourney

NEDERLAND — The Port Neches-Groves Indians took down the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 59-49 in first day action at the Nederland Bulldog Classic.

Junior Haden Wiggins led the Indians with a double-double, scoring 18 points while yanking down 14 rebounds.

Hunter Curtis had 10 points for the Indians while Edsel Damo and Trent Lee added eight points apiece.

PN-G (1-3) hurt itself from the free-throw line, going just 13-of-38.

Kevin Richard led the WO-S (0-2) arsenal with 15 points while Jared Dupree added 13.

The Indians outscored the Mustangs 20-16 in the first period, but it was WOS that led at half, 35-31.

The Mustangs held on to the lead heading into the fourth period. PNG did close the gap and trailed 38-35 going to the final frame.

PNG outscored WOS 15-7 in the fourth to rally for the victory. Damo had six of his eight points in the fourth and Derrick Papa scored all five of his points in the same time frame.

In 0ther action at the tourney, Beaumont Kelly handed Little Cypress-Mauriceville a 61-41 loss while Alvin dropped Vidor 72-46.

Evadale tourney

EVADALE — The Orangefield Bobcats defeated the Liberty Panthers 36-33 at the Evadale Tournament.

Zach Dischler and Alex Catt led the Bobcats with 11 points apiece. Catt connected on 3-of-3 three-point shots.

The Bobcats fell to the host Rebels later in the day 65-44.

Catt led the Bobcats, scoring 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds and five assists. Caleb Kress finished with 10 points and four rebounds while Mason Gonzales chimed in with six points and 10 rebounds.

The Bridge City Cardinals are participating in the Evadale Tournament this week.

The Cardinals defeated Beaumont Legacy 49-41 as Brandon Vela led the way with 17 points.

Bridge City dropped a 47-36 decision to Jasper.

 

 

BC boys

WINNIE — The Bridge City Cardinals took down the East Chambers Buccaneers 39-28 on Tuesday.

Hunter Wiegreffe led the Cardinals with 10 points.

 

 

WO-S boys

WEST ORANGE — The West Orange-Stark Mustangs dropped a 78-53 decision to Second Baptist Tuesday night.

Tarek Riley paced the Mustang arsenal with 15 points. Brettlin White chimed in with 13 points and John Jefferson added 10.
