Special to The Leader

There’s a great smell in the air!  It’s Vidor Rotarians cooking chili for their annual Election Day chili dinner.  The dinner will be held on Tuesday, November 8 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. in the Vidor Elementary cafeteria.  “Tickets are only $5 a person, and that gets you chili, rice, a bottled water, and crackers,” says Vidor Rotary Club President Tim Andrews.  “We will also have drinks and dessert for sale on site,” says Andrews.

If you choose to dine in, you can listen to some really great entertainment, courtesy of Vidor ISD and the amazing students and teachers in the Fine Arts Department. Entertainment schedule is as follows:

4:00 p.m.  Vidor Elementary Choir

4:30 p.m.  Vidor High School Pirate Players

5:00 p.m.  Vidor Middle School Choir

5:30 p.m.  Pine Forest Choir

6:00 p.m.  Vidor Junior High and VHS twirlers

6:30 p.m.  Vidor Junior High Brigs

“Carryout is also available, and if your business has four or more folks working who want chili, we will even deliver that evening,” says Mr. Andrews.  The Rotarians have held the chili dinner for about five years now, and it’s always a nice fundraiser.  “We are acquiring a newer green bus for our Read and Feed program,” says Andrews, “and we have a few costs associated with that, such as getting the bus painted and adding even more books than ever before.  The chili dinner will help a lot with feeding our Vidor kids and taking books to them, so we urge folks to come out and get some chili and support a great cause.  Tickets are available now from any Vidor Rotary Club member.
