Planning and Zoning to hold Special Call meeting

While a post is on the City of Orange’s website for a Special Call Zoning Board of Adjustments meeting, an agenda has yet to be posted by press time on Tuesday.
The meeting is to be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Orange Public Library Auditorium located at 220 North 5th Street in Orange.
According to an agenda for the meeting, the board to conduct a public hearing concerning a Special Exception application for a warehousing operation at 6930 State. Hwy. 87. After the public hearing the board is to take action on the request.
In a memorandum to the Board of Zoning Adjustments from Director of Planning and Community Development Kelvin Knauf, Carly Railcar Components, LLC desires to open a warehouse in an existing building at the location.
Previously, the location was a auto repair shop.
The lot has mini –warehouses to the north, a vacant lot to the west, a snow cone stand and roller rink to the south and single-family residence to the east.
The property is zoned C-2 which requires a Special Exception for warehousing operations.
Carly Railcar Components expects one or two UPS trucks daily at the location, which will not be open walk-in customers. The business does not anticipate any construction or additions to the building at this time.
The business supplies railroad car parts for repairing freight cars.
