Special to The Leader

The October meeting of the Orange County Christian Writer’s Guild met on Tuesday, October 11. We had a small group so we mostly made plans for upcoming events.

Dr. Charlie W. Starr has consented to be the Guest Speaker at the November meeting. This will be held on November 8. Dr. Starr is the author of five books: two biblical studies, a children’s fantasy, a science fiction novel and a study on C. S. Lewis entitled Light: C. S. Lewis’s First and Final Short Story, which has released a never before published C. S. Lewis manuscript.

Dr. Starr has lectured on Lewis and Tolkien for two decades and has written dozens of articles, both popular and scholarly on C. S. Lewis as well as chapters for three anthology books on Lewis. He is the author of several short stories which have been published in a variety of venues and has worked as a producer and writer on a number of festival quality short films.

Guild President and Founder, Karen Y. Stevens, will have a booth at the upcoming West Orange Holiday In The Park on November 5. This is a free event and we would enjoy meeting any who come by our booth.

We also will have several writers who will be reading some of their work at the Lamar Student Center on Thursday, November 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. A question and answer time will be included. This event is also free to the public.

The Orange County Christian Writer’s Guild meets the second Tuesday of the month from 6-7 pm at the Brown Hearing Center, 105 Camellia in Orange (behind the Dairy Queen). If you have any questions or want to join this free guild, please contact Publicity Director Sarah Jonson at sarah@sarahjohnsonbooks.com or Resource Director, Martha Tallent, at 409-238-4978.
