Police investigate auto-pedestrian fatality

PRESS RELEASE — On October 10, 2016, at 10:04 P.M., officers were dispatched to the area of 2080 IH-10 North Service Road, in reference to an auto-pedestrian traffic accident. Acadian Ambulance Service was called to the scene, but were unable to resuscitate the 44 year old male victim, a resident of Ohio who had been struck by a vehicle which was still on the scene. Justice of Peace Derry Dunn was contacted and came to the scene, subsequently ordering an autopsy. Shavers Mortuary Transport Services was contacted and transported the victim to the Jefferson County Morgue at the direction of Judge Dunn. Assistance on scene was provided by the Orange Fire Department. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
