Trooper Struck while Investigating a Crash on Interstate 10 near Vidor

UPDATE 10/6/ 16: Following a crash that occurred yesterday on Interstate 10 in Orange County, Trooper Kenneth Burman was transported by medical helicopter to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital.  Trooper Burman was treated for his injuries, but has since been released from the hospital.

The driver of the Ford, 28-year-old Leann Bolser-Britt of Vidor, was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

This is an ongoing crash investigation

UPDATE: BEAUMONT – A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper was involved in a motor vehicle crash on IH-10 in Orange County.  He was transported to a local hospital by helicopter for treatment.  The crash occurred near the City of Vidor.

On October 4, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a DPS trooper was investigating a crash on the Interstate when another vehicle struck the back of his marked DPS vehicle.

He was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont.  His injuries are non-life threatening.

The driver of the vehicle striking the trooper is also being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Christus St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS troopers.

PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 5:15p.m., a Texas State Trooper was struck on Interstate 10 near Vidor.  At the time of the crash, the Trooper was conducting a crash investigation and was struck from behind by a passenger vehicle.

The Trooper had been transported to a local hospital; however, the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
