Special to The Leader

Granger Chevrolet recognized Hershel Stagner, of Orange as the dealership’s first member of Chevy Truck Legends on Friday. The program recognizes the customers in Texas who have purchased or leased more than one new Chevy truck in their lifetime, or who have driven more than 100,000 miles in their vehicle.

These customers have helped make Chevrolet the country’s fastest-growing pickup truck brand in the industry for 2016. This legendary group of Chevrolet trucks also showcase the durability of Silverado– the most-dependable, longest-lasting full-size truck on the road. Chevrolet estimates there are 8 million Chevrolet trucks on the road with more than 100,000 miles, with 1.2 million of them in Texas alone.

Stanger is a loyal Granger Chevrolet customer that with the assistance of Terry Childers, just refurbished his father’s 1946 Chevrolet Truck in 2013 and this truck has rolled on mileage too many times to count.

“When my father originally bought the truck at a used car dealership in the 1950’s, being in 1st grade, I had no idea how big of an impact it would have on my life,” Hershel said. “This was the one and only pickup my father every owned. I was with him the day he bought it and remember fishing, hunting and many camping trips in that truck. When my father passed away, I knew the best thing for my family was to have the truck refurbished and keep it in the family. I feel my father would love the way it turned out upon completion of all the work put into the truck.”

“Loyal Chevrolet Truck owners like Hershel Stanger have helped make Chevrolet Trucks part of the fabric of America,” Dean Granger, owner of Granger Chevrolet, said. “Truck Legends is a way for us to recognize these customers, and to create a community of loyal Chevrolet truck drivers in Orange Texas.”

Truck Legends members will receive exclusive Truck Legends memorabilia. This includes “Chevy Truck Legends” hat, Truck Legends decals and, if applicable, decals celebrating mileage milestones, ranging from 100,000 miles to 500,000 miles.

In addition, participating dealers may offer additional benefits to members, ranging from free car washes to discounts on oil changes and Chevrolet accessories for their trucks.

Finally, Chevrolet will provide a small number of Truck Legends members with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Experiences could range from front-row seats at concerts, to attending sold-out Major League Baseball events, to getting a sneak peaks at new Chevrolet models.

The Truck Legends program is free to join for individuals who have more than 100,000 miles on their Chevrolet truck or have purchased or leased more than one new Chevy trucks in their lifetime. Eligible vehicles are as follows:
