PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 7:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 62 in Orange County.  The crash occurred approximately one mile north of Farm to Market Road 105.

A Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on State Highway 62.  A Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling northbound on State Highway 62.  For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet crossed the center dividing line and struck the 18-wheeler in its rear axle.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 27-year-old Lindsey Williamson of Bridge City, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries to her legs.  The driver of the Freightliner, 54-year-old Victor Lanza of Louisiana, was not injured in the crash.

Due to the crash, the northbound and southbound lanes of State Highway 62 were closed for more than an hour.  Both northbound and southbound traffic lanes have since reopened.

This is an ongoing crash investigation.  Troopers are working to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash.
