Officer Ronnie Denton from Bridge City Police came and spoke to BCE’s 1st graders on Tuesday. He spoke about how police officers are one of the many community helpers and how students should not be afraid to ask them for help. He also explained what a policeman carries on their belt and about gun safety. He also talked to the students about their part in bus safety. His lecture reinforces the 1st grade Social Studies unit on Community & Citizenship. Officer Denton will be retiring soon after 43 years of service; he was given a poster signed by all the 1st grade students thanking him for his service.
