Lady Bears take down Woodville

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears took down a solid Woodville Lady Eagles team 25-14, 24-26, 25-21, 25-17 in non-district volleyball action at The Bear Cave Tuesday night.

The Lady Bears (9-9) breezed through the first game and led the second game 24-23, just a point away from taking it, but the Lady Eagles rallied to extend the match.

The Lady Bears trailed Game Three 14-11 but scored 14 of the last 21 points to snag it. LC-M then controlled the fourth game to take it.

LC-M utilized a balanced attack to turn back the Lady Eagles.

Renna Toomey led the way with 13 kills. Madison Taggart had 12 kills and was a force at the net with her blocking. Kaitlin Avery also posted 12 kills while Allie White had eight and Berkley Dobranski added seven.

Toomey and Dobranski each had 12 service points with Dobranski nabbing an ace. White served up 11 points while Avery had nine points and three aces. Kayla Dominguez contributed seven points and set up the offense well while McCarthy Miller played solid defense.

Adrian Prince paced the Lady Eagles with a match-high 14 kills. Bethany Mitchell had 11 kills while Gracin McCollum had nine and Josie Watts added five.

Bailey Stewart led Woodville with nine service points while Shayla Williams had eight and Prince five.

The Lady Bears put together a solid five-game victory last Tuesday night, downing the Nederland Lady Bulldogs 25-23, 19-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-13 at the Bear Cave.

Kaitlin Avery, Renna Toomey and Ally White led the Lady Bears with 10 kills each.

Morgan Weaver set up the offense well for the Lady Bears (8-9), notching 32 assists while Kayla Dominguez added 13.

McCartney Miller led the way with 23 digs while Toomey had 20 and Weaver and Berkley Dobranski each had 18 and Avery had 17.

Madison Taggart led with six blocks and added seven kills.

The Lady Bears fell to Beaumont West Brook last Friday 25-13, 25-13, 25-11..

Toomey led LC-M with nine kills while taggart had seven.

Dominguez had 10 assists while Toomey had 13 digs and Taggart 11.

The Lady Bears will visit Vidor Friday.

OF volley

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats put together a thrilling 25-21, 28-30, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13 non-district volleyball win over the Buna Lady Cougars last Friday.

Shelby Perales put together 15 kills while Balee Click had 13, Anna VanPelt nine and Ashlyn Turley five.

Evie Arceneaux led the way with 27 digs. Faith Fregia had 23 while Kayla Gordon had 15 and Devany Crain 12. Perales also collected four solo blocks.

The Lady Bobcats dropped a 25-19, 25-19, 25-8 decision to the Huffman Lady Falcons Tuesday night.

Evie Arceneaux had 34 digs and five kills to pace the Lady Bobcats. Ashlyn Turley had 12 assists while Bailey Click had three blocks.

The Lady Bobcats venture to Beaumont Ozen Friday.

WO-S volley

KOUNTZE — The West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs went to Kountze last Tuesday night and downed the Lady Lions in three games.

Shatrya Allen had 15 kills for the Lady Mustangs while Ja’Tayjah Vital had 10 kills while Natiyah Brumfield played excellent defense with 48 digs.

The Lady Mustangs also cruised past the Beaumont Central Lady Jags 25-8, 25-10, 25-18 on Friday.

The Bridge City Lady Cardinals split a dual match in Beaumont, downing Ozen while falling to West Brook Tuesday.
