National Weather Service in Lake Charles monitoring systems over Leeward Islands

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring a broad low pressure area over the northern Leeward Islands. This system has been upgraded to a high (80%) chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 5 days. This system has a good chance of coming into the Gulf of Mexico by early next week.
It is too early to say how strong or where a possible landfall location would be along the US coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
