Lake Charles PD seeks information in home invasion, homicide

PRESS RELEASE — On Friday, August 12, 2016 at approximately 03:37 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department was notified of a possible shooting in the 1300 block of Lewis Street. Upon arrival, Officers found the front door of the residence kicked in and a black male, later identified as Aaron Javone Sam, 23 years of age, residing at 4245 5th Avenue, laying on the floor deceased from a gunshot wound. Sam was one of several individuals who are responsible for the home invasion in the 1300 block of Lewis Street by kicking in the front door and entering the home while armed with weapons.

Detectives with the Lake Charles Police Department are currently investigating the home invasion and the homicide involving Sam.

Corporal Dwayne Petroski and Officer Dustin Dennis handled the initial investigation.

Detective Dustin Gaudet and Detective Sergeant Lecia McCullough are handling the home invasion and homicide investigations. Detectives are asking the public to call (337) 491-1311 if they have any information involving the home invasion or homicide.
