Man stabbed at Orange Boat Ramp

PRESS RELEASE — On Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 1836 Hrs., Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 505 Pier Road, Orange Public Boat Launch, in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival Officers stopped the arrestee as he was leaving in a vehicle. Officers stopped and detained that subject. Officers then made contact with another subject at the boat launch that was suffering from a stab wound to the face and neck area. It was determined through the investigation that the two subjects had pulled into the boat launch area to trailer their boats. During this process, words were exchanged between the victim and the suspect. The victim was struck, knocking him to the ground. The arrestee then pulled a knife and stabbed the victim as he was attempting to stand back up. The arrestee is identified as Samuel Cecil Sanchez III. He was arrested for the offense of Aggravated Assault and transported to the Orange County Jail. The victim, Brian Gordy, was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital Orange for treatment of his wounds. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
