UPDATE: Multiple Vehicle Crash on Highway 105 near Sour Lake in Hardin County

UPDATE:

At this time, one lane of Highway 105 is open.  The westbound lane of Highway 105 is open to allow alternating lanes of traffic to flow through the area.  Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route around this fatal crash scene. Expect delays.

The driver of the Chevrolet SUV was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.  The four minor children in the Chevrolet SUV were transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital.  The injuries sustained by the children did not appear to be life threatening.  At this time, the names of all occupants of the Chevrolet SUV will not be released.

The driver of the Isuzu SUV, 46-year-old Stacy James Howard of Dayton, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace, Kent Walker.

The driver of the Chevrolet passenger vehicle, that rear-ended the Isuzu, sustained only minor injuries in the crash.

PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 6:45a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was notified of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 105 in Hardin County.  The crash occurred approximately 4-5 miles West of Sour Lake.

Hardin County Troopers are in route to the crash scene.

At this time, DPS can confirm that that one person has been killed in this multiple vehicle crash.  One person has been transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital and four others were transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital.  The extent of those injuries are unknown.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 105 are closed.  The roadway will remain closed until the crash investigation has been completed.  There is no time estimation as to when the roadway will reopen to traffic.  Motorists are urged to find alternate travel routes.  Expect delays.

This is an active crash investigation and further details will be released as information is confirmed.
