Health Scores not reflecting conditions

Flies were found on raw fish and bugs found inside containers of flour and cornmeal during a recent routine health code inspection at Hushpuppy’s Seafood located at 1202 North Main Street in Vidor. The restaurant received a health score of 86 out of a possible 100. The health report noted the score does not reflect the condition of the establishment. Other demerits included flies found throughout, thawing raw fish inside sink, equipment, floors, walls and ceilings in need of being cleaned of old grease and equipment and materials being stored outside in the elements.
Pakco #1, located at 3031 Hwy. 12 in Vidor, received a health score of 83 during a recent routine inspection. Demerits included several expired foods from 2015 and 2016 found on the shelves, soap and paper towels needed at hand washing sink, and in need of more general cleaning needed.
Homemade Donuts, located at 6377 FM 1442 in Orangefield, received a health score of 84 during a routine inspection. Demerits included sausage, ham and boudin at unsafe temperatures, no record of time found on holding sausage, ham and boudin at room temperatures, hot water off by 10 degrees, and vent-a-hood, floors, and the employee restroom in need of being cleaned of old food and dirt. The report noted the toilet seat was found broken and more general cleaning is required at the location.

Demerits included several expired food items on the shelves and hot water not at proper temperatures requiring the deli section to be closed until repairs can be made. Roach feces found in back storage area and on shelves at sales floor and the need for more cleaning at the location.

Demerits include food being stored on floor, utensils being stored handle down, and more general cleaning required at the location.

Demerits include the need to cover all foods inside reach-in coolers and freezers and lots of standing water found on floors throughout.

Demerits included heavy mold found inside the ice machine, and no hot water found inside the restrooms.

Demerits were for the outside back storage area and floors inside the mobile truck in need of being cleaned more often.

Demerits included water from a motor inside a walk-in freezer dripping onto boxes of fries, mold was found on all drink stations, several flies found, and the need to clean several areas. The report notes restaurant was found in very poor cleaning conditions and more daily visits and cleaning were required.
