VBS teaches looking beneath the surface

Finding the truth beneath is the theme for Vacation Bible School (VBS) at 6th Street Community Church this week.
The church is located at 1619 6th Street in Orange.
First Lady Qiana Thomas took over VBS recently.
“We did not want the regular. We wanted to go over the top,” Thomas said. “We want to have an impact on the children’s lives. We want them to remember praising God and having fun. We want it to be exciting.”
With the sanctuary and each classroom decorated in representation of scenes from under the sea, the excitement was easily recognized in the children’s eyes on Monday.
Submerged under the sea while in search of hidden treasure only helped spike the interest of the children.
“Submerged is finding the truth beneath the surface,” Thomas said. “It is having a personal relationship with Christ and not just on the surface in a fun way.”
Thomas also said before looking at everybody’s faults, one should look at oneself first.
“It makes you a better son, daughter, wife or husband,” Thomas said.

The event is nightly 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. until Friday.
Friday is Family Night with a special concert featuring Soulfruit.
