Area playoff games set for BC, WO-S, LC-M

The Class 4A Region III area round playoffs are set for the Bridge City Cardinals, West Orange-Stark Mustangs and the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears as they will each look to advance to the regional quarterfinal round next week.
The Cardinals, District 24-4A co-champions, will face District 21-4A champion Bellville in a best-of-three series Friday and Saturday at Goose Creek Memorial High School in Baytown.
Game One will be Friday at 7 p.m. Game Two will be Saturday at 1 p.m. with Game Three, if necessary, to follow 30 minutes after Game Two.
The Cardinals toppled Liberty 7-4 and 6-1 in their bidistrict series last week while Bellvile flattened Houston Scarborough 24-1.
The winner of the Bridge City-Bellville series will take on the winner of the WO-S-Giddings series in the regional quarterfinals.
WO-S, the third-place unit out of 24-4A, will take on Giddings, the fourth-place team out of 21-4A, in a best-of-three series at Porter High School in New Caney Thursday and Friday.
Game One is Thursday at 7 p.m. Game Two is Friday at 5 p.m. with Game Three, if necessary, to follow 30 minutes after Game Two.
The Mustangs flattened Splendora 14-2 in the bidistrict round while Giddings made quick work of Houston Furr 15-1 and 16-0.
LC-M, the fourth-place squad out of 24-4A, will take on Caldwell, the third-place team out of 21-4A, in a best-of-three series. The games will be played at Summer Creek High School with Game One Friday at 7 p.m. and Games Two and Three on Saturday with Game Two set for 2 p.m.
The Bears stunned ninth-ranked Huffman 9-7 in the bidistrict round while Caldwell dropped Houston Washington 28-0.
The winner of the LC-M-Caldwell series will play either Silsbee or Navasota in the regional quarterfinals.
